During Friday Cheerfulness, I helped the teaching instructor in preparing the activity for the children. I usually arrived earlier to help set up the room and organize the materials needed, such as worksheets, colored pencils, story cards, and fun learning tools. I also assisted in arranging chairs, preparing tables, and making sure everything was ready before the children arrived.

When the activity began, I helped welcome the children and guided them as they joined the session. Some of them were shy, some were very energetic, and others looked excited to start the activities. I helped distribute the worksheets, accompanied them while they colored, read, or played simple learning games, and gave instructions when they needed help. It made me happy to see them enjoying the activity, smiling, laughing, and learning in a fun way. From this experience, I learned to be patient, to understand different personalities, and to communicate clearly.
I also learned from watching the instructor teach and manage the group. I paid attention to how the instructor explained things, kept the children focused, and created a cheerful atmosphere. I felt grateful to be part of the program because I could see how enjoyable learning could be when guided with kindness and creativity.
Choir practice taught me new things that were different from helping children. I learned about teamwork, rhythm, tone accuracy, and listening to others while singing. We practiced several songs that we would perform for school and church events. Sometimes it was challenging, especially when we had to keep the same pitch or stay in the right tempo, but the practice was still enjoyable because we worked together and supported one another. I also learned to listen to the choir coach, accept corrections, and fix the parts that needed improvement.
These two service activities became important experiences in my personal development. Even though they happened when I was still in Grade 7, the memories are still clear now that I am in Grade 9. Through Friday Cheerfulness, I learned responsibility, kindness, and how to support younger children in learning. Through the choir at Kemuning Church, I learned cooperation, courage, and the importance of practicing with dedication.
Both experiences helped me understand that service is not just an activity, but also an opportunity to grow, to share, and to give something positive to others. I feel proud to have been part of these activities, and the lessons I learned remain valuable in my life today.
